Down through the years, folks have described the Ocean Five Hotel as "the nicest little hotel in Miami Beach." The Ocean Five's ideal location puts guests at the entry to famous South Beach, next to miles and miles of white, sandy beaches, and close to world-famous restaurants, nightclubs and shops. With its striking pink, cream and yellow façade, the Ocean Five is actually a combination of two different Art-Deco hotels that date back to the 1930s.
In addition to room service, the hotel dishes up complimentary continental breakfasts and provides same- day dry cleaning. The Ocean Five Bistro features food from an authentic wood-fired oven and is a great place for cocktails before stepping out for the evening. La Factoria at 124 Collins Ave. is owned by the hotel and specializes in egg dishes, wraps, quesadillas, burgers, pasta, soups and other items.
Back at the hotel, guests will find their rooms appointed with custom wood furnishings, travertine floors, marble bathrooms and original art work of ocean and beach scenes. Amenities include cassette/CD players, safes, cable TVs with premium channels, minibars, and complimentary high-speed and dial-up Internet access.
Staff at the family-operated hotel welcomes guests into a small living-room-style lobby with Mediterranean decor. Guests are primarily business and leisure travelers who appreciate the hotel's Old World charm mixed with high-tech amenities. Guests who want an inside view of the multi-cultural Miami can join the locals at the beach and park area just south of the hotel. Watch out for the topless sunbathers.
