Constructed in classic Greek fashion with impressive Doric portico-columns at the entrance, the Historic Mansion Inn in New Haven, Conn., is a beautiful example of how the state has held on to tradition. This restored 19th-century mansion is located across from the Wooster Square Park and is four blocks from Yale University. The inn features mahogany double doors and 12-foot archways which lead to the 27-foot dining room and multiple living rooms. Each of the seven guestrooms features a decorative marble fireplace and Queen Anne-style furnishings. Complete with private bathrooms, four- poster queen beds, cherry wood armoires, sitting areas with stuffed chairs and writing desks, the inn has spared no expense in making each visitor comfortable. The Historic Mansion Inn provides a smoke-free environment, and guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast every morning. Dial-up Internet access is available throughout the property.
