For guests seeking a great location close to Union Square, the Powell Hotel (San Francisco, Calif.) sits just off Market Street, where the historic cable cars turn around. Visitors can travel to practically any spot in this mystical City by the Bay, via cable car or by ferry. Guests can leisurely walk two blocks to the Sony Metreon Entertainment Center and the high-end shops of Union Square. Occupying a building from 1908, the Powell retains its 20-foot ceiling in the lobby festooned with plush, blue-and-gold chairs and oversized high-backed benches. A Concierge can assist guests by arranging tours, business services, dinner reservations and getting hard-to-find theater tickets. Guests can use fitness facilities at two nearby hotels. At the on-site Café Powell, guests can enjoy Krispy Kreme doughnuts, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, muffins, bagels, and espresso drinks for breakfast and soups, panini sandwiches, and salads for lunch. Guests are close to many dining venues for dinner as the Café Powell does not serve guest in the evening.
Guestrooms include sitting areas, oversized work desks, 25-inch TVs, expanded cable and dial-up Internet access. The rooms décor includes 10-foot ceilings, steam radiators and transoms. Antique-style furnishings, earth-tone fabrics, stucco walls and earth-toned fabrics adorn the rooms.
Downtown's many rooftop gardens delights visitors with that certain ambience only found here. Close to the Powell, guests can sit in the rooftop garden venues, sip cocktails and gaze at the gorgeous skyline.
