Built in 1834 and set in acres of gardens overlooking the Bay of Naples, the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is situated on the cliff tops above the waterfront and is located by the main square in Sorrento's city centre. This hotel features 98 air-conditioned guestrooms housed in three different buildings built between 1834 and 1880. Rooms are decorated with trompe l'oeil and frescos, and restored 19th century furnishings. Guestrooms extend to marble bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers, toiletries and hair dryers. Haute cuisine and local specialities are on offer at the formal Vitorria Restaurant, and a live orchestra entertains diners once a week at the Bosquet Restaurant. Before or after a meal, guests can sip cocktails and enjoy sea views. From the main terrace a private lift descends directly to the pier in the harbour below where sightseers can hire a motorboat, jet skis or take an excursion to Capri. The historical site of Pompeii can be visited 30 kilometres away. Naples Capodichino Airport is 50 kilometres from the hotel with an approximate driving time of 75 minutes.
