Tenuta La Bandita occupies a classical, 18th century Tuscan villa surrounded by ornate gardens, set in 55 hectares of estate amidst the olive groves and woods of the Maremma countryside, 12 kilometers from the coast. Bold, rich colored fabrics compliment original antique furniture and period light fittings in the 24 guestrooms, all of which have views of the estate and gardens. Rooms are equipped with minibars, private bathrooms with bathrobes and slippers, safes and telephones.
Guests can stroll through the 55 hectares of estate grounds and ornate gardens, soak up the sun on the terraces surrounding the outdoor pool and perhaps enjoy a leisurely game on the tennis courts. With an ornate stone fireplace as its focal point, the classically furnished restaurant enjoys plenty of natural light and views of the gardens, and serves traditional Tuscan cuisine prepared with local, largely organic, ingredients. Drinks are served in the lounge bar and guests can relax in the peaceful library or watch television in the lobby lounge, which has a period fireplace. The hotel offers cookery courses and can also organize wine tasting at local vineyards, and visits to olive oil mills and to local farm suppliers. The hotel provides a good base for exploring many of Tuscany's historical centers, Bolgheri castle and wildlife reserve are 15 kilometers away, and within 45 kilometers visitor will find the important Etruscan ruins of Populonia and Piombino port, where boats leave for Elba island. San Gimignano is 60 kilometers away and Pisa is 75 kilometers away. Florence airport is about 130 kilometers and a 70 minute drive away; a hire car is recommended for visiting the area. The 'Vola In Bus' shuttle bus runs between the airport and the city center. Train run from Florence to Donoratico station (12 kilometers from the hotel) and Cecina station (29 kilometers away). |
