The Hotel Mare Blu is a four-floor hotel set in a converted villa overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea; once belonging to a noble and originally designed from the famous architect Vanvitelli's school it is located on the island of Ischia, one kilometre from Aragon Castle, and is furnished with antiques. All 43 guestrooms have décor of soft colours with tiled floors and light oak-wood furniture; rooms are equipped with direct-dial phones, cable television and minibars.
The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving a selection of international and Italian cuisine with an emphasis on fresh vegetables and fish. A weekly gala dinner is served by candlelight with live music. Those seeking indoor pursuits may find themselves in the bar, television room or gambling room. The hotel benefits from two swimming pools (one of which is heated by a thermal spring) set in tropical gardens that include two sun terraces. Alternatively sun worshippers can head to the private beach and investigate the water sports on offer. Guests can work out in the gym, revitalise in the health club and enjoy a range of spa treatments that will ensure relaxation. Two conference rooms are available with a combined capacity of 135 people. The best view of the island is from the top of Mount Epomeo, five kilometres away, whose summit can be reached on foot or perhaps on the back of a donkey. The hotel is approximately 42 kilometres or a ninety-minute journey from Naples Capodichino Airport. Take a taxi to the harbour and catch the hydrofoil to Ischia; complete the journey with a taxi to the hotel.
