The Fort Royal in County Donegal is a country hotel built in 1805 and set on the banks of Lough Swilly, 600 metres from the town of Rathmullan. The 15 cottage-style guestrooms are decorated with antique wood furnishings and patterned fabrics. All include televisions, direct- dial phones, clock radios, and private bathrooms with hair dryers and complimentary toiletries.
Guests can stroll through the 18-acre estate, take walks along the private beach and picnic on the seashore. Golfing enthusiasts will also find the famous Portsalon and Ballyliffin golf clubs within 20 miles of the hotel. Other local attractions include the Golden Sands Equestrian Centre, about half a mile from the hotel, and the town of Letterkenny, which offers shopping and sightseeing, nine miles away. Glenveagh National Park, with its abundant natural beauty and wildlife, is 25 miles away. Belfast Airport is 96 miles and a 140 minute drive from the hotel.
