The Renaissance Paris La Defense is located in the center of La Defense, a district of high-rise offices, apartment blocks and shopping complexes in western Paris. The area was named for the statue, La Défense de Paris, which was built in 1883 to commemorate the soldiers who defended Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. The hotel can be found at the foot of La Grande Arche, a modern sculpture that is nearly a perfect cube, and is steps away from the La Defense Metro subway station. The Renaissance Paris La Defense also is close to the Champs Elysees, the well-known tree-lined avenue famous for its elegant cafes and shops. The 10- story, triangular-shaped Renaissance Paris La Defense offers 324 rooms and three suites, and was entirely renovated in 2003 and 2004.
