First opened in 1891, the Park Hotel Maximilian is housed in an historic neo-Rococo building in the medieval town of Regensburg, one kilometer from the Royal Palace of Thurn und Taxis. The 52 guestrooms are decorated in Italianate style and all include cable TV, complimentary toiletries, wireless Internet access and minibars. A buffet breakfast is served each morning in the ornate setting of the Park Café, with its opulent wall panels, chandeliers and high ceilings. There are two restaurants, where guests can sample Italian specialties or traditional German dishes before heading down to Max's Bar for a cocktail or two. Guests can also take advantage of the onsite beauty salon and solarium, or challenge each other to a game of snooker in the games room. A range of conference and meeting rooms are available for hire, seating up to 150 people, and there is a parking garage for motorists. Visitors can admire Regensburg gothic cathedral, 500 meters away, and the medieval Steinerne Brücke stone bridge crosses the River Danube one kilometer from the hotel. For travelers arriving by plane, Munich Airport is 100 kilometers away. Commuter trains and buses connect the airport with Munich city center. From there, trains run to the railway station in Regensburg, five minutes walk from the hotel. Taxis are also readily available outside the terminal.
